Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lucas Fire Department is recruiting qualified individuals for the position of Firefighter/EMT or EMTP (preferred) who will be responsible for providing fire EMS, rescue and hazardous materials response to the community.

Respond to emergency incidents; performs firefighting, rescue and shall deliver emergency medical services; documents emergency services delivery and related incidents; Performs minor maintenance to fire station and grounds; completes station maintenance work requests; and cleaning of station contents.

Assists with daily apparatus inspections and apparatus readiness; performs minor equipment and apparatus repairs and/or maintenance; completes required documentation and reports; Provide tours of a fire-station and/or apparatus; delivers fire prevention and safety presentations to the public; conducts pre-fire planning of commercial and industrial occupancies; conducts courtesy home fire safety inspections; and conduct courtesy home fire smoke detector inspections, installation and maintenance; Attends and completes related training; assist with company level training; participates in required departmental training; participates in additional training and education opportunities; maintains established continuing education requirements to retain certifications; assist with employee
development; and assist the training division as needed; Provide input, feedback, research, and manpower as needed to assure the department is providing the best service possible to the public.

Maintains continuous awareness, adherence and compliance with City and Department policies and procedures;
Maintains personal physical fitness and participates in on-duty physical fitness activities.

Perform other related duties as assigned; Firefighters in the Lucas Fire Rescue Services Department will work 24 hours (on duty), followed by 48 hours off duty. They may be required to work 8 - 5, during the period of this program installation and during some training period. You may be subject to 24 hour recall.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate and Basic Firefighter from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or currently attending a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Academy and Basic EMT by the Texas Department of State Health Services and National Registry are required. Paramedic Certification Desired.
