Arbor Day & Recycling Event

The City will be holding its Arbor Day and Recycling Event for electronics, paper shredding, and styrofoam from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Arbor Day will be held in the pavilion at the Lucas Community Park. The recycling drive drop-off site for electronics and paper shredding will be located in the parking lot next to the Lucas Community Park.

Arbor Day is an annual holiday that celebrates and promotes tree planting and care. Arbor Day will be held in conjunction with the recycling event to promote environmental sustainability as we continue to Keep Lucas Beautiful. In support of Arbor Day, the Legacy 4-H Club will be encouraging tree planting and beautification in the community.

United Electronic Recycling will set up a drive through drop-off site for electronic recycling and paper shredding. For a complete list of accepted electronic items, visit www.unitedelectronicrecycling.com/items-we-accept. Please note there are disposal fees for televisions ($25), CRT monitors ($10), printers, copiers and fax machines ($5), hard drive shredding ($12), with all other electronics being free to drop off.

New this year, you may also drop off clean styrofoam to be recycled.

The paper shredding service will be free for residents to drop off any paper documents to be safely and securely disposed onsite. Other paper-type items that are accepted include soft cover books, hard cover books (depending on thickness and material), and magazines. Newspapers will not be accepted for paper shredding services. All paper documents should be placed in banker-sized boxes.
