Public Lands Trail Cleanup

Join the 2025 Public Lands Trail Cleanup!

Nature lovers, trail explorers, and community champions—this one’s for you! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20, 2025, because we’re coming together for the annual Public Lands Trail Cleanup at the Brockdale Park Trailhead from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

This is your chance to give back to the scenic trails and outdoor spaces that make Lucas such a special place to live, hike, and explore. Whether you’re a regular on the trails or just looking for a way to make a difference, we’d love to have you join us!

Why This Matters 🌎

Since 1994, National Public Lands Day (NPLD) has united volunteers across the country to preserve and celebrate our nation’s parks, forests, lakes, and trails. Led by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) in partnership with the National Park Service, this nationwide movement helps protect the outdoor spaces we all cherish—including Lavon Lake, the Trinity Trail, and our own Lucas parks.

By joining the Public Lands Trail Cleanup, you’re making a direct impact on the beauty, sustainability, and future of our local outdoor spaces.

What to Expect 🏕️

We’ll provide all the cleanup supplies you need to get the job done safely and efficiently, including:

Safety vests – Stay visible while you work!
Gloves – Keep your hands protected.
Trash grabbers – Make picking up litter a breeze.
Trash bags – Every little bit of cleanup makes a big difference!

This is a great opportunity for families, groups, and individuals who want to spend a beautiful day outdoors while giving back to the community. Plus, it’s a great way for students to earn community service hours!
