City of Lucas Recognized as Gold Star Affiliate by Keep Texas Beautiful!
We are thrilled to share some exciting news—Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) has awarded the City of Lucas the prestigious Gold Star Affiliate designation! This is the highest honor bestowed upon community affiliates, recognizing our commitment to maintaining a clean, green, and beautiful city through education, volunteer efforts, and impactful programs.
What Does This Recognition Mean?
Being a Gold Star Affiliate places Lucas among the leading cities in Texas for environmental stewardship. Keep Texas Beautiful Executive Director Suzanne Kho praised the commitment of Gold Star communities, stating:

Lucas’ Contributions to a Cleaner Texas
In 2024, KTB affiliates across the state engaged over 60,000 volunteers, collectively removing 1 million pounds of waste and recyclables from roadways, trails, and waterways. Lucas proudly played a key role in this success through various initiatives, including:
